Trygg strømhandel

Trygg strømhandel is a certification scheme aimed at creating a safer and simpler electricity market for customers. Gudbrandsdal Energi is certified!

The certification scheme is an initiative from the industry organizations Energi Norge and Distriktsenergi, but is fully managed by DNV. The scheme consists of a series of requirements that electricity suppliers must satisfy in terms of marketing and sales of electricity products, customer follow-up, training of their own employees, etc.

- We are pleased to be certified. It's good that the major and serious players in the industry support this initiative so that it gains the necessary weight. For our part, there is no doubt that the culture and customer focus deeply rooted in Gudbrandsdal Energi have made the certification process easier, says CEO Marius Røed Sveipe.

A mark of quality

Certification is a recognized method for building trust that a company follows given rules of play. Companies that are certified according to Trygg strømhandel have proven that they have a systematic approach to their customer work and that they work continuously to improve their routines.

The certification is valid for five years, and the companies have an annual reporting obligation to DNV. The companies have received a certificate and a certification mark that they can use in their marketing.

- We want Trygg strømhandel to become a quality mark that customers will look for when choosing their electricity supplier. At the same time, we provide suppliers with a tool to do an even better job towards the customers, says Knut Kroepelien, CEO of Energy Norway.

DNV has developed the scheme in collaboration with the industry and conducts an independent certification of the companies according to the framework for Trygg strømhandel.

Here are the key requirements in Trygg strømhandel:

  • Strict requirements are imposed on sales activities over the phone, social media, door-to-door, stands, etc.
  • The requirements also apply to subcontractors who have direct contact with the customer (call centers etc.)
  • Requirements for employee competence and good processes for complaint handling etc.
  • The power products should be easy to differentiate from each other in marketing.
  • Customers should be able to choose the channel for price alerts. Examples include SMS or email.
  • Campaign offers should be clearly marked and customers should know what happens after the offer period.
  • There should be transparency regarding all pricing elements and the duration of the electricity products.
  • Switching suplier should be easy. Once a customer has paid their final bill, they should not be contacted by the electricity supplier for at least six months.
